Lancaster EPS Project - Boulder Clearance Campaign

Scope of Works:

The Lancaster field is a new development involving the tie-back of two production wells to a FPSO.  James Fisher Offshore (JFO) supported our customer with a spread of subsea boulder clearance equipment.  As the project deadline was tight and to also provide contingency, should it be required, JFO utilised a Dual Supply system involving topside and ROV hydraulic oil supply.  This was made possible with the use of hot stab sets on the tools and also on both the downlines and ROV.  In the event that topside oil supply was compromised, a ROV equipped with a Zero Leak Hot Stab system could intervene and continue with operations, whilst the topside supply is rectified.  A contingency, which was never required but provided a solution in the event of breakdown related downtime.

Scope of Supply:

  • 15Te Orange Peel Grab and shipping/storage corral
  • 10Te Orange Peel Grab and shipping/storage corral
  • 1.6Te Clamshell Grab and shipping/storage corral
  • Twin 37kW Electric HPU
  • Hydraulic Umbilical Reel c/w 200mtr downlines and remote control
  • BFG10 Hydraulic Winch (set at 3Te top layer) and wire rope
  • 3No. Zero Leak Hydraulic Hot Stab systems

During the 37 day campaign more than 7000 boulders were cleared with the assistance of two JFO Technicians  with Rigger level 1 training.  The flexibility of JFO Technicians allows them to integrate seamlessly into the deck crew and provide experience with JFO equipment.

Following issues with customer power supply on-board the vessel, JFO out of hours service delivered a generator package to the vessel mobilisation on a Saturday evening.  The ability to react quickly to the situation is thanks to our dedicated onshore personnel who will always strive to help customers whatever the time or issue.
