Fisher Offshore (Ingersoll Rand Sales & Service), part of James Fisher & Sons plc, continues to enhance its capabilities in the servicing of Ingersoll Rand equipment, with the recent certification of its five-strong team of engineers by the manufacturer.
“This recent achievement by our workshop team members shows that all of our engineers have demonstrated technical competency in the overhaul and servicing of a wide range of Ingersoll Rand equipment,” says Duncan Duthie, Director – Ingersoll Rand Sales & Service, Fisher Offshore. “This includes competency in servicing air chain hoists, utility winches and man-riding winches. Two of our five engineers have also gained offshore certification, meaning that we can now accommodate clients’ Ingersoll Rand servicing requirements offshore.”

The recent certification of its engineers follows the appointment of Fisher Offshore (Ingersoll Rand Sales & Service) as a UK master distributor and service centre for Ingersoll Rand’s industrial lifting product category last year. The company has also enjoyed status as a certified service centre for Ingersoll Rand’s winch and hoist ranges for over two years. To achieve this status, companies must demonstrate that they have the requisite high standards of facilities, manpower and inventory to support Ingersoll Rand’s equipment ranges.

“This is another demonstration of Fisher Offshore’s commitment to further enhance their ability to serve the market,” says Kevin Lever, UK Sales Manager - Winch & Hoist Products, Ingersoll Rand. “Our recommendation is for customers to always use our authorised and certified service centres to ensure optimum safety and performance of our products.”

Since its initial appointment as an authorised winch and hoist distributor and service centre, Fisher Offshore (Ingersoll Rand Sales & Service) has continued to invest in its spare parts stock, resulting in inventory levels that are second to none. Fisher Offshore’s Ingersoll Rand team has expanded to include nine staff, four of whom are office-based. The five newly certified engineers have also recently moved to their own dedicated Ingersoll Rand workshop on-site, which is due to benefit from further investment in the future.

Enhanced Subsea Excavation Services go Global at Fisher Offshore

Fisher Offshore (Stand B7, Subsea 2011) will be showcasing its enhanced subsea excavation services at Subsea 2011 (9-10 February 2011, Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre).

The HydroDigger, Fisher Offshore’s mass flow subsea excavation system, has been deployed on projects throughout the world over the past few months, including the Far East, West Africa and the North Sea, with good prospects for ongoing work in these regions and the Americas for 2011/12.   Its capabilities have been upgraded to handle jobs at a greater depth than it could previously operate at.

“Our fleet of HydroDiggers has been kept very busy recently,” says Ian Diack, Managing Director, Fisher Offshore (Subsea Excavation).  “This popularity is, in part, due to the system’s enhanced capabilities along with the flexibility of our experienced team to meet each project’s bespoke requirements.”

Fisher Offshore’s HydroDigger is a fully integrated system, which is deployed over the side of a client’s vessel and remotely operated from its control cabin on deck.  Its dedicated Launch and Recovery System (LARS) further reduces deck space requirements, while the combination of real-time sonar monitoring and variable excavation power provides precision during excavation projects within constrained areas and long distances.

Fisher Offshore (Subsea Excavation) will be sharing a stand at Subsea 2011 with sister company, Buchan Technical Services.  Both organisations are owned by James Fisher & Sons plc, the leading service provider in all sectors of the marine industry.

Fisher Offshore Tools up for Scottish Sculptural Project

Fisher Offshore (subsea equipment sales and rental), part of James Fisher & Sons plc, has teamed up with client company, MTec Warehousing to support the installation of an extraordinary multi-part sculptural project, 6 Times, by celebrated British artist Antony Gormley.

Fisher Offshore (subsea equipment sales and rental) provided specialist tooling to allow personnel from MTec to position six life-sized figures between the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art and the sea.

Representatives from MTec used a variety of sophisticated and powerful Fisher Offshore tools to fix pre-drilled steel plates to the waterbed for the life-sized sculptures to rest on.  Working at a depth of 1.5m, they used a BR67 breaker to clear stone and rock to make way for the plates.  An SM22 pump prevented silt or spoil contaminating the water course and a multi-functional HD25 drill was used for heavy drilling into rock and concrete, as well as light drilling into metal.  Power was supplied from a portable diesel hydraulic power unit (HPU) model DP56 with variable pump displacement (zero to 56 litres per minute).

“We are delighted to have played a supporting part in helping this prestigious National Galleries of Scotland project come to fruition,” says Ian Diack, Managing Director, Fisher Offshore.  “As a Turner prize winner and the creator of Gateshead’s Angel of the North, Antony Gormley’s work has gained worldwide recognition.  This unique project, which involves the siting of four of the figures in the Water of Leith, has been the perfect challenge for our specialist subsea tooling.”

The four figures sited at separate points along the Water of Leith were installed throughout June; the figure closest to the sea is sited at Leith Docks, while the first figure is located within the grounds of the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art – and buried in the ground up to chest-level.

6 Times as commissioned by the National Galleries of Scotland with the help of a £150,000 grant from the Art Fund, funds from the Gulbenkian Museum of the Year Award 2004, and further support from The Patrons of the National Galleries of Scotland, Claire Enders and The Henry Moore Foundation.  This is the first time that a work in the National Galleries’ collection has been permanently located across the City of Edinburgh.

Fisher Offshore (subsea equipment sales and rental) specialises in equipment hire, sales and services for the offshore, subsea and marine industries.  Based in Aberdeenshire, its extensive product range includes winches and hoists, marine cranes and deck equipment, and subsea hydraulic tooling.

Workshop and Equipment Upgrades at Fisher Offshore

A new purpose-built workshop with improved testing facilities is the latest phase to be completed in a £3 million investment programme at the company’s 11 acre site at North Meadows, Oldmeldrum, Aberdeenshire. The workshop will be used for bespoke product design and precision engineering.

Fisher Offshore (subsea excavation) has also upgraded the capabilities of its mass flow subsea excavation system, the HydroDigger. The HydroDigger, which has an integrated Launch and Recovery System (LARS), can now handle deep water jobs up to 400m; twice the depth that it could previously operate at.

“This is an exciting time for Fisher Offshore,” says Ian Diack, Managing Director.  “We are delighted to announce these combined improvements in our capabilities at Subsea 2010 and hope that these will be of interest to event visitors.”
